The greatest help that we could do to nature is to keep it as it is . Unfortunately we leave a great amount of junk when we go out to visit scenic spots. To remind us of how we should respect the nature, these posters are posted at @ Rampachodavaram @ Maredumilli @ Dharapalli waterfalls @ Erakampalem waterfalls @ Santi ashram mallikarjuna Dhara @ Korani forest Kakinada
In our continued efforts to make people more informed to be careful, MeriOrSe did an awareness drive at Rampachodavaram through these posters.

**Provisions to Needy families**
1/06/2020 to 5/06/2020
MeriOrSe reached out to 180 families over the past few days with Groceries.
AP Residential schools had some provisions left over and the district administration had asked us if we can make a better use of those. The concerned officer is really honest and had told us to let him know if anyone asks for money whilst these are supplied to us.
Don’t have much experiences to share as most of the migrants had left and these are local poor people slowly trying to get back into life. It was a lot of physical work arranging transportation, packing all the parcels and driving to all the corners but it all paid off with a few smiles from the families and good byes from kids.
Going forward thinking of focusing more on creating awareness about hygiene and keeping public places clean and safe.
**Migrants Saga**
These migrant workers from Assam got stuck with no work.Leftover by the contractor and the company who engaged them in work,Unable to speak the local language and struggling to get little help understanding the process of travel they had to undergo a lot of panic. MeriOrSe reached out to them with not only providing Groceries, but also dealing with the house owner to let them stay and with company to pay their remaining wages and also going around all the district offices to finally arrange their travel home in the special trains arranged. The whole of this process rather a saga took a few good weeks but ended in a happy note with them finally leaving to their home in Assam on the train.
**Ration To needy Brahmins**
06/05/2020 Rajahmundry & Pitapuram
With no pilgrims for a couple of months these brahmins who make a daily living offering rituals at Godavari and Pitapuram suffered to meet day to day needs as well. MeriOrSe reached out to 40 of them in Pitapurams and around 50 of them in Rajahmundry with Provisions and Vegetables.
Pitapuram :
Rajahmundry :

**Activity : Ration to migrant workers from Assam**
Meriorse Over the past 2-3 days
Even though the plan was to take a little halt. That didn’t really stop there.
Provided ration to 12 muslim migrant workers from Assam ( didn’t take their pic as they weren’t up for pics).
Alongside helping an old orphan christian man now and then with his needs. Planning to reach out to poor brahmins in Pitapuram or Rajahmundry too who are left with no income.
Continued the awareness activity with supply of Gloves to those who come in contact with public frequently.
And food distribution the other day.

10 th Day
One remarkable task achieved today is to be able to manage
the crowd to maintain the social distance and it all went smooth. It’s been 10
days for now and it doesn’t feel so.
Taking a little break from tomorrow for food distribution. With of view of starting again if the lockdown continues again or to address any further need that arises in between.
25/04/2020
We decided to drive the rural route again today. After
picking up the food we made our way to hand over the lunch to the little huts
and homeless people we came across the other day. Handed over the sanitizers to
PHC Doctors in the end. One thing that moved us a lot is the plight of sewage
cleaners.I wonder what good any government scheme is if none of those wishy
washy ad schemes do no good to people risking their health and working under
inhumane conditions just to clear the waste created by the society and help us
remain clean while embracing all the junk on to them.
This is about Day 9

Day 8 went rather quick. In contrast to the long rural drives for the past few days, today’s distribution was in the town.Long queues continue to grow but they are all getting help from someone or the other and that’s a good sign.

All eyes on that little packet of food and an expression of gratitude from the little one. This is it to sum up the Day 7 !

Day 6 catered the needs of homeless people, migrant
labours, sanitary workers, women at old age home and the Doctors.
A press reporter (from Andhra prabha) guided us in finding
the needy people. We drove to a couple of rural villages Karapa and Nadakuduru
and what we found was really needy people and a few in starving condition. After
stopping at each one of them we went out to sanitary workers area and finally
to Primary health centre.
It was a nice opportunity to offer lunch to Doctors in the
end at a village PHC and thank them for their selfless service.
On the next trip to that village planning to provide sanitizers asked by the staff doctors.

Day 5
Today’s distribution started with Thalassemia children at
Redcross, then at a slum and to the people on roads.
For those who are not aware Thalassemia is a rare condition
in Kids where they need blood transfusion every month for them to survive.
It was sad to see those innocent kids. Not sure if many
understand what is happening to them or the fact that they don’t even live up
to 30.
As part of monthly activity want to include this as well – to offer food on the day of transfusion to these kids & toys if possible.

MeriOrSe
Day 4 has been really satisfactory. Instead of a particular
spot we distributed around a few areas amongst rural migrant huts, hungry old
people on the roads and a few left over packets asked by police for drivers
stuck with no food today.
Early in the morning was at another raithu bazar offering
gloves and masks to veg vendors, municipal workers and police.
Not that veg vendors can’t afford to buy gloves, but none of
them had any gloves until we gave and are also not aware of the imporatance of
wearing as they get more in contact with all sorts of people in exchange of veg
and money.Bare hands are risk to them as well as to public.
Of all those who had food 2 people made our day. One was a
blind man who said that they he is so thankful for offering food in times of
need and another lone old lady walking on the road who didn’t ask food until we
offered and hungrily had it right there.
All the activity from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm made it all worth it.
19/04/2020
Day3 MeriOrSe
Managed to make it a bit more organized today with distance margins & a little stool to hand over the items & to avoid any contact. The count went up and 100 people had food.

MeriOrSe Today
Activity 1-
The day started at 4:30 in the morning to catchup with 100+
sanitary workers to provide them with Gloves & Masks. They were happy to
receive those from us but I’ve told them that it is their basic need and should
demand the panchayat office for those in general.
Activity 2
Following that it was distribution at Rythu Bazar to Police
and vegetable vendors as they are more prone to hand touch ( none were wearing
gloves until we gave them).Even police were eager to get those gloves from us.
One nice policeman helped us all through.
Activity 3
Then it was offering food to needy. That aged couple in the
pics cooked it all for today as their contribution and I helped in packing.
Managed to get social distance maintained today.
17/04/2020
Friends, MeriOrSe activity is started from today. I’d like
to keep you posted regularly but PLEASE don’t send any appreciations because
the situation out there is bad .And I see many hungry eyes eagerly looking for
any passing by vehicle for food.😔
I was doubtful if those 50 meals would be utilized but just
in a matter of 5 minutues all those were taken away.
In the end an old lady asked to help even if there is a
single meal left and we were left with none. I still am feeling so sad as I
could still see her asking face 😔
Planning to increase the count. I’ll keep you posted. Stay safe.
Noticed this street cobbler for a few weeks before the charity MeriOrSe decided to support him with some tools to up his business. In the pretense of getting a shoe repaired I had a chat with him and the very first point he mentioned was “ my life was much better when my Mom was alive”. So true to any being on earth, who else can look after us better than a mom.
He only has a handful of tools and is at his little shop all day long even in very hot weather reaching 40 degrees. His day starts with visiting a couple of places of worship before starting work. From my interaction he sounded to be contended with what he is earning. He felt happy when we offered to purchase the needs for his business.
On the day of purchase, we were expecting a long list and when we went to bazaar he only wanted a few tools and didn’t want any thing extra. Asked him many times if he wanted any thing more ,a shelter to cover his shop, more polish brushes and any thing that is needed for his business. He just responded saying whatever purchased are enough and won’t need more.
He wasn’t greedy and didn’t want excess even though he didn’t have to spend a penny. Nice to see people like him working hard and happy with whatever he is making. End of the day learnt that happiness is all about how contented one lives with the situations of life.
*******vs Mosquitoes *******
Mosquito are a major problem in our areas. An old age has a dormitory with no mesh/ protection from mosquitoes. As part of efforts to support the needy, MeriOrSe has arrange a mesh door for this dormitory so that the old people can have a good night sleep.
*******Winter Floors *******
Homeless who sleep along Godavari Bank are provided with floor mats.
*******Winter Floors Orphanage *******
A lot to write about the plight of these kids who are in welfare hostels. Food, shelter and school education are taken care by Government but are very basic that you wouldn’t want any kid to go through that. So many welfare schemes, wonderfully presented on paper are as thin like paper when it comes to implementation.
Support 70 kids living in a welfare hostel with mats so that they can brace winter floors.
On my solo trip along Himalayan villages, I had to trek through a good number of mountains filled with so much of greenery, tall Devadar trees, waterfalls, Clouds almost at a touch distance and “Plastic” ! Yes, PLASTIC !
More than the spectacular views and stunning beauty what remained in my mind is the long stretches of plastic waste competing with the stretches of waterfalls. These lines of plastic looked like the “SCARS of Mountains”. And it was really a sorrowful sight to see plastic everywhere on those serene mountains that stood so innocent suffering the acts of ignorant Humans!
My activity along the trek was to write “No litter” signs on the big visible rocks I came across and also to pick up the plastic bottles, tie them to a rope and drag them down to the mountain to dispose off.
Some travelers didn’t understand what I was doing, some laughed, some clapped and a few started to pick the plastic as a gesture of support to what I was doing.
I wondered if each individual starts clearing up at least 5 bottles they see along their trekking paths, picnic spots, parks, public places it may not create a huge change but will make a difference that will create a noticeable impact down the line.
We Humans often boast of civilized culture but if we start ignoring these Scars of Mountains, it will be no time before we get pushed in to the dead end of human life on this planet.
****Making Thalassemia Ward at Red Cross lively ****
MeriOrSe has put murals at Red Cross Thalassemia Ward.Rama and Rajkumar were helpful in getting these on to the walls.
Thalassemia children need blood transplanted every month in order to survive, even then they live up to 35 years only. All day long during transplantation Children lie on bed looking at empty walls.
So thought of putting Murals to cheer up those kids and Red Cross mentioned that those children were all happy looking at the murals.
Glad that MeriOrSe made them smile.
****Iron Supplements–Pregnant Women ****
Iron supplement syrups to Aneamic pregnant Ladies at Seethanagaram.
Government gives tablets but they’re not enough and syrups are more effective.
Planning to do this every month for a few months.
Felt glad to have reached out to them.
****Medical Aid – Materialized ****
Tribal areas are a real beauty with innocent people, splendid nature and air of freshness everywhere.
However, lack of proper personal hygiene and less intake of nutritious food leads to decreased body resistance to fight against infections leading to Skin diseases. Mostly they suffer from communicable diseases. Non communicable diseases (ncd) like BP,sugar are rare.
No accessibility to clinics treating skin infections, Non availability of related medicines at hospitals makes their condition worse.
We’ve been trying for a while to find a support to provide medical aid and finally it is materialized and have come in to use for them.
***** A Good Doctor, Poor People & Policies *****
Ganapathi is a young doctor who’s given up his profession to join a charity. He is one of those Doctors who is for true service devoid of any commercial goals out of his qualification.
Today we arranged a medical camp at a couple of places and Dr Ganapathi and his friend Vamsi spent a full day to serve. One of the places is where poor people come to get their daily meal from a trust and the other one at a Orphanage.
Looking at these people you will know for sure that these are the ones in real need of help. Really poor, old, unhealthy, malnourished and many a times ignored.
During the medical camp a lady approached us. She was hit and run by a car and has her hip fractured. She went to Government hospital where she was demanded for money and was left untreated as she neither has money or an Aadhar card.
She doesn’t even have a home where does the identity card come from? Or the money to bribe the Government hospital staff who asked for money. If the Government policies or the political schemes don’t come in use for people like her who are in real need, how are these policies or schemes good for any society?
Don’t know what’s next for her but it was really sad to leave her helpless and her plight remained in my mind the whole day.
Tribal’s suffer a lot of communicable diseases like Skin allergies which doesn’t come under Government sponsored list of medicines. In need to help these Tribal villages of East Godavari district with required medicines on monthly Basis.
Estimated recurring monthly expense is 3000/-
Tentative figures for a month 5/10 ml tubes are ideal
There is a need to improve condition of ZP High School Sarpavaram
I’m just sharing the pics of the schools.
1. They don’t have sufficient classrooms and are sitting in open corridor or school ground for long hours. It gets worse in harsh weather conditions.
2. There aren’t benches in the classroom and they end up on the dusty floor whole day long.
Requirements :
1. Arrange partitions in the corridors so that they form a class room.
2. 50 Benches at least for the high school
3. 60 benches to the primary school
4. Note books for the next academic year
Request :
I know individuals cannot afford to support this.
Many are working for firms which will have CSR funds and government has made it mandatory as well to spend on CSR.
So if any of you could check with your respective companies on if they could sponsor to support he above, I will come up with an estimate.
Funds will be utilize through the SBI account of * Meri Or Se* charitable welfare association.
